Challenge

Education teaches us about our society and environment, as well as how to change them for the better. Education also assist us in developing our own points of view and from our opinions on various aspects of life. And only education can train us to interpret different issues and events in our lives.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been wreaking havoc across the globe, upsetting our lives and livelihoods. And therefore, all the enrolled students have been unable to go to their school due to the spread of covid-19 virus.

Learning used to be based in face-to-face interaction between the teacher and the learner. But due to the proliferation of COVID-19, face-to-face classes were discouraged. This was enforced for the safety of the school staffs and the learners. But despite this pandemic that we are currently experiencing, the Government of the Philippines believes that learning should not stop. Modular Learning was suggested to facilitate the learning process and ensure the continuation of learning. This way of learning was choosen because not all students can afford to provide gadgets for online lectures. The signal in rural places is also inadequate, and those students will fall behind their studies. And as a result of the Modular Learning, some students work into the wee hours of the morning to complete the assigned task in each module. Modular Learning. On the other hand, is ineffective since the lessons are not adequately defined. There are also activities that are inappropriate for the learners ability, with which might cause a serious problem.

And now, I’m calling out for the attention of the Government of the Philippines especially the Department of Education to please implement and allow face-to-face classes as soon as possible and provide a quality education. Because right now, some of the students are doing their schoolworks not to learn but only for them to be able to pass something to their teachers.

RESILIENCE vs. COVID-19

 Towards a More Resilient Philippines

                                             RESILIENCE vs. COVID-19

It’s not a secret that us, Filipino people have traditionally taken pride in our ability to survive natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and typhoon after typhoon. Being able to bounce back quickly from adversity while still providing assistance and warmth to others is a feat that everyone should strive towards. The story changes, though, when the quality you worked so hard to cultivate in yourself, and especially in your country, is exploited to hide its demise.

And today, in the midst of COVID-19, we’re all in precarious situations. Medical frontline workers must deal with the virus on a daily basis with minimal understanding and protection. Due to unemployment, many people are unable to meet their fundamental requirements, such as food and shelter. The educational system cannot continue without having somebody being compromised.

Little by little, this situation is changing, specifically the situation of COVID-19 pandemic. We have watched the numbers getting higher and higher and felt helpless. But social has been a very huge platform for reminding people that we can pull our country up from this its nature never-ending resilience.

Resilience in and of itself is not a bad thing; the need for it is what we must address. And we won’t be able to do so unless we uphold another value that our country values: unity. We can only prosper as a country if we decide to collaborate, man and woman, citizen and citizen, people and government, to achieve our objectives. When we all work together to build a good system, solve the country’s problems and ensure that every Filipino has the opportunity to live a secure life, then we are in the way of the right type of resilience.

My Country's Leader

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines. He is mostly known in the country by his nickname “Digong”. He was elected on the 30th day of May, year 2016 and he started serving the country, June 30 2016. He was first the city Mayor of Davao City before he became the President of the Philippines. He was 71 years old when he started his legacy, and known as the oldest president of the Philippines.

President Duterte has done a lot of things that helped our country grow. During his term the number of poor families in the Philippines has reduce from 23.5% to 16.7% due to the three major tax reforms¬¬- the Rice Tarriffication Law (which removes the rice monopoly and allows import to lower the price of rice), the TRAIN or Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law of January 2018 (which proide exemptions from income taxes for those who are earning no more than P250, 000 (per year) and the Universal Healthcare Act. He implemented a campaign against illegal drug. He started the Build, Build, Build infrastructure Plan, and part of the policy is the development of infrastructures and industries. And during his term, Philippines achieved it’s highest credit rating-BBB + on April 2020, amidst COVID-19 pandemic and on June 2020, Japan Credit Rating Agency had upgrade it’s rating to the Philippines to A-. He has also provided punishment and threats to those abusive water corporation, telecommunications and media corporations. The opening of NAIA Express Way, One-Stop Shop Service Center and OEC Removal are only some of things he did for the country.

Indeed, President Duterte is a great president. He did so much things for the country and I am very much grateful for his good work. And us, his citizens will and forever be grateful for his service and his  genuine leadership. And yes, he is the strongest and the best leader we all have. And now, he is in his last year as our President, and we all shall salute him. He is not just our country’s leader but he is also our father that helped our family grow together with peace and unity.

Things about Myself

Work hard and dream big. I am Arianne Kuh Shaina Pio. Born on the 25th day of April 2006. I’ am currently living in Bahet, San Ildefonso, Ilocos Sur. Yes, I may still be young but I already know what I want to be in the future. My passion revolves on reading, writing and studying. I always believe in myself and live by high standards. In the future I aspire to be a successful engineer and business woman. And I believe that in doing so I need to enhance my skill and be more knowledgeable.

My daily routine is to feed my pets rabbit, hamster and dogs, do my schoolworks, eat and sleep. Reading books, wattpad stories, listening to music and watching k-dramas/c-dramas are some of the things that I do to escape reality. I also love to sing even though i sound like a parrot, I don't care because through singing i can express what I'm feeling. And as a student I really like to challenge myself and explore new beautiful things in the world. My biggest fear is disappointing my parents. So, ever since I was still in elementary I’ve been passionate and consistent with my school works, I follow what my heart beats for and always believed in myself. But sometimes I am also having troubles and difficulties, I’m having doubts whether I’m gonna make it or not, whether I'm going to be succesful and live my dream life. Even so, my family had always been by my side, supporting me and guiding me with every step that I take. They always remind me to trust the process and be tue to myself when i make decisions.

Hard work and commitment is all what it takes to be successful. So I always look for positivity in all things because when I develop a positive attitude I will start feeling better and confident about myself. Having a positive mindset helps me boost my confidence level and inner strength. Always be open minded to all the opportunities that may help me to be successful in the future.
